    Great offer from O2.ie shocker!!

    1c DVD

You need to be an O2.ie member and register (or simply login for existing customers) with Screenclick.com

You can rent all the movies you want between July 1st and September 30th for just 1c. Once you select your movies, you will start to receive them, one at a time. You can hold onto your DVD for as long as you like, but you won't receive a new DVD until you send the one you have back by freepost in the provided envelope to Screenclick.com

PS - you need to opt out of the promotion before September 30th though to avoid getting charged their membership fees after that.

    EDIT on 15/09/2006:

Our 1c DVD rental offer with Screenclick.com has been extended for three months. This means you can rent as many DVDs as you like for just 1c between July 1st and December 31st. It's our way of saying thanks.

The only problem is make your to fill your wishlist as large as you can.. as for some unknown reason, i've a feeling they'll be getting huge demand.. and therefore less DVD's to go around so a big wishlist means they'll send go down through your wishlist and send you the next one available.

I'd say so, they allow you 25 picks on your wishlist, may as well fill it. I wonder if they'll pull the offer if demand is high?

I'd be very suprised if they did... as it definantly wouldn't look good on O2's part and the absolute ordeal that was the website upgrade, they need a boost with customers!

I can't sign up! I login to o2, follow the link to screenclick, and when I try 'sign up' there, it just bring me back to the same page! Is this another O2 f*ckup or is it just me?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,200 ✭✭✭✭Basq

    positron..

i got my first dvd today. i signed up to screenclick briefly last year and wasn't very impressed. half the discs i received then were unplayable or damaged. very anoying when a dvd stops playing half way through.

but its free till october so what the hell....

I have the same problem as positron even though i've attempted using basquille link. It continiously asks me to sign up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,430 ✭✭✭positron

I thought it was a browser issue (firefox) but I couldn't get it to work with IE either. So I rang the O2 and the helpdesk girl took my details and she could login no problem - that was embarassing!

It might a cookies problem? (I know some group security settings are messing up my browser lately here).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,719 ✭✭✭kaisersose77

They sent my first one out, but only send one at a time so i'd say id be lucky to get my 25 by xmas ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 791 ✭✭✭Akula

Not working for me either positron. In either firefox or ie7beta2.

Going to try it from home tonight.

Think its a problem with the validation system screenclick are using for passing authenticated logins from o2 to themselves as its coming up with the validated=false at the end of the url.

I tried to login and kept getting the same problem, it wouldn't let me register with Screenclick. It appears that it checks your o2.ie registration first which validates you as an O2 customer and then automatically adds the offer to your Screenclick account when your sign up or login when coming from o2.ie. It appears that you have to enter the screenclick site via o2.ie.

Info from Screenclick site on how to get the offer, I would say the important word is "must":

    From Screenclick.com
To avail of this 1c DVD offer you must follow these steps:

Click on the 'Go to o2.ie' button below
    Register/login to 'My O2'
Follow the '1c DVD' link to bring you back to Screenclick
Click on 'Sign up' (if it's your first time) or 'Login' (for existing Screenclick customers)
Fill in your details & select your movies

I signed up so easily as i'd an existing address from a trial a couple of months back.. but i remember the register process being arduous to say the least!

Try it in Internet Explorer.. think i remember the Submit button not working in FF when i registered anyways but fine in IE6.

When did u sign up? I signed up on Monday night, just logged in to check wishlist, no.1 pick ("the Crow") not on, so i presume its in transit.

I found the signup process a little tricky as well. I registered with screenclick, the logged out, went to O2, logged in, followed link to screenclick and activated account.

odd, i had no trouble registering

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,830 ✭✭✭irishproduce

Another thing to note, I dont know if anyone is this tight to care but you only pay 1c for the first dvd, the rest of them are not charged at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,153 ✭✭✭ronano

Great if i ever get it working be an extra dan bar for me ;)

Whoops.. yeah, just read it again and copped on it's 1c for the entire trial!

(am blaming the girlfriend who told me it was 1c each! :o)

glad Screenclick got rid of Worldpay, it does seem alot easier to register without it.

they should send you an email when its dispatched. i didn't even get close to my first choice, i think it was my 13th. as i expected, the disc was pretty scratched but played alright thankfully.

My first disk also arrived this morning.

Thanks for that. First one arrived this am. It was "The Crow" my number 1 pick:) . I steered clear of anything that would have come out in the last few months, out of the 25 I picked about 4 had been relased in the last year. Although the label side of the disc looked well pawed, the business side was clean and scratch free, fair play to screenclick.

Got my first DVD thismorning, branded fully as O2.
Not my number one pick, but my 3rd.
    DVD in perfect condition.
c'mon I want to see Honogurai mizu no soko kara

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,200 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Got my first this morning too.. not first pick, about third!

Factotum - ripped to the hard drive, converted to DIVX and on the XBOX ready for watching.

So i sent the DVD back this evening! :D

I notice the service has slowed drastically for me this week.
Must be all the O2 people joining !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,430 ✭✭✭positron

Thanks OP for the tip off, I got my first choice - War of the Worlds. Disk was dirty enough, but clean enough to let dvd decryptor read the whole disk.

With a bronze membership, even if I were to return the DVD the next day, its going to take two to three days for them to send me the next dvd - I will be suprised if I get more than five or six dvds off them every month!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 110 ✭✭Cooee

well I signed up with no problems.

Completed by wishlist and got my first choice yesterday - The Constant Gardener. Unfortunately the dvd is smashed!

Can someone please post what the solution they got from o2 was? I am in the same boat and rather than have them ring me I would like to get the answer here as someone obviously has it!! Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,719 ✭✭✭kaisersose77

I got the wrong film ( well not the one they said they sent out but the one I got was also on my list so i didnt mind), but the plastic in the middle circle of the dvd's is smashed to bits. Like the way they have problem check box's on envelope, I know which i'll be ticking. Doubt it'll stop them renting this out to someone else though.

I still can't register, I have the same problem as everyone else...when I click register, it just tells me to go back to o2.ie etc. How do I solve this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,280 ✭✭✭jArgHA

I can't understand how folks are having trouble registering with this, it went thru fine for me? I just logged into www.o2online.ie, then went to the "1c DVDs" link on left hand side, then chose "sign up" link from the page displayed. This brought me to screenclick.com's website where I chose 'register' link and then entereted my details including mobile phone number. That was it!

I use disposable 3V credit cards so it was nice to be able to get something out of the €0.43 credit which I had left on my most recent card!

Looking forward to receiving DVDs from these guys, they have a fantastic selection, I filled up my 25 DVDs wishlist pretty quickly.

Having the same problem as a load of others. Log on to O2. Click on 1c DVD link. Click on Sign up - takes you to screenclick, click on Sign up button and routed to a page telling you to login to O2.

I'm assuming its bad luck with timing (it'd be very bad luck at this stage) or something wrong in my internet options. If anyone who's been having problems works this out I'd appreciate knowing how.
