    hey,

just a quick question, hopefully someone can confirm this to me, im working for the summer in tech support, mainly dealing with people who have windows queries but a small number of customers have macs and tbh i aint very familar with macs at all and i remember a while ago, some guys cracked it so they can boot mac os x on an intel machine. i wanna make sure that if i was to get the company to order a copy of it that it would be a relatively simple operation to put it on one of their new optiplex machines.

    any help would be appreciated

Yes it can be made run (at least the beta did) ... but 90% sure that it would be illegal to use it on an Standard PC (and a dell of all things :O)

i'd be pretty sure depending on the size of the company that pirate / illegal installs are a no-no.

It'd be in the companies interest im guessing to have a mac there for techs to use for such issues, so why dont they just get an I/e/mac (even an old one).. they should be able to pick one up for about the same price as an Optiplex .. not to mention time taken by the time you hack osx to work on a intel box .....

Also ... an actual representation of the customers issues may not be replicated accuratly using a PC with osx installed .. depending on what type of tech support it is .. (although most prolly will).

The only way to getting it to boot on a Non-Mac based computer is by modifying the boot code. This is illegal. Simple as.

    Doesnt stop people though!

Aside from that, you must be sure to have the correct hardware to make the most of the OS. Correct graphics, network conroller, sound card etc.

    checkout www.osx86project.org

It would be a smarter plan to buy an older Mac TBH
