Working in Prague

    Hi all,

Bit of advice need. I have recently been offered an IT job (graduate programme) in Prague by a large multinational company. I've only recently finished college and I am considering taking it as I will gain some valuable experience and proper training. (Unlike my current IT support job where I am left to figure things out for myself and spend most of the day bored and idle).

Anyway, I'm just wondering if anybody has experience of living in Prague and if they would recommend it as a place to work for 1-2 years. They're offering me about €1000 a month, so I would also be interested in finding out about living costs over there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think 1000 a month would leave you too flush after paying rent in Prague, from what I remember from looking at newspapers there while on holiday.

Personally I would find living in Eastern Europe very daunting. I found the shop/hospitality workers in Prague often very gruff and dismissive.

    Morning

I wouldn't even consider moving to another country for that amount of money unless you had living expenses covered in another way. Relatives, friends, something like that. As mentioned by eth0_, "about" 1000 euro would not go very far in Prague after paying rent/accomodation, etc etc. I would either ask for a substantially larger amount of money or let it go unless you are ready and willing to live just above the breadline.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

Have you tried the abroad forum? You might get more results there?
I'd say it would be fine, as long as you want to save a load of money. (You could probably renegotiate your salary once you get over there if you need to.)
