    Hello All,

I just bought a aldi adventuridge rucksack. It doesn't look to bad and was only 27 euro. capacity of 78 litre.

Does anyone have any experience with these rucksacks or have any recommendations on good rucksacks(not too expensive)?

The aldi one looks good but i don't want to cheap out if it is drastically bad. I still have the receipt so i can bring it back.

No experience of that particular rucksack but huge experience of rucksacks in general. Depends on what you want it for. Try posting in the Outdoor Pursuits forum or just let me know what your main use of it will be. Don't expect any decent one to cost €27 though ;) , you'll almost always be talking about €150 for that type of capacity.

I didn't find it on the website either. Was on sale in Tullamore aldi.

€150 euro for a rucksack, jaysus!

Will have to look into that.

    Thanx for the info.

I've got about 4 I regularly use, 2 small ones for day trips 1 for the mountains/climbing and 1 for long distance overland hikes that don't involve climbing.
    The climby one.
    And the Long distance one.
The outdoor shop in the second link is a good place to buy rucksacks. Never had any problems with them.

    Cool, thanx for the info.

    Long haul to New Zealand.

The Great Outdoors on Chatham St, just off Grafton St. And there's a couple of places on the north side as well, I can't remember what they're called or where exactly they are, they are more reasonable though.
If you're heading to NZ and just dumping your pack in a house then all your pack has to do is last through a few airports and buses, but remember if you plan on doing any of the activities that NZ is famous for then then you'll need a good hard wearing piece of kit. Whatever you do don't skimp on quality if you plan on using it for the more 'adventurous' things.

    Ye, thought so.

I hope to be doing hiking and such through NZ so i will need a good quality one.

Can't spend too much on one as i have a budget.

Would i be better too buy a good rucksack in new zealand. Might be cheaper?

If you're based in one place you can use your cheapo one to get you there and then just take what you need for the week or few days or whatever in the good one you get there.
When it comes to getting good gear in NZ I assume they will be no shortage of Macpac stuff Check here for a location and retailer guide, I doubt if they'll be any cheaper though!

A cheap backpack can be very advantageous. Remember its the marketing department that are making the decisions about most of the established brands rucksacks.

As said, it really does depend on what your doing. If you want to go on a comfortable camping/hike in europe well then you probably have cash and a lowe alpine/northface/berghaus would be "nice". Also maybe it your intention to look like you have all the latest gadgets and technologies, which will "presumably"(?) suggest you have experiance. If you plan to bring all but the kitchen sink you will probably want a reasonably tough pack to carry all your exess baggage with you.

My experiance is coming more from developed and emerging economy countries. How I travel:

Cheap Bag: Doesn't suggest I have a grands worth of camera equipment, is cheap and easily replaceable. As long as you don't carry too much it shouldn't break

Dull colours: So as not to stick out

maximum 35-45l: I don't carry much. So I don't have be split up with my bag while traveling and so I can comfortable walk and take public transport to meet real people and real situations. The journey is as important as the location.

This means three t-shirt/shirts, two trousers, shorts (to wear and swim in), small bag of basic toiletries and meds, cameras, books, notebooks. Leaves about 30% space for picking things up as I go along. A packaway shoulder bag for day trips.

But thats me, my idea of traveling may be completely different to yours and no more valid.
