Really annoying problem

Whenever I open any folder containing iso or video files I get an error box saying "Nero install corrupted, please reinstall."

All well and good apart from the fact I don't use Nero!! I don't have a copy of Nero on my computer and have never used it....this error box won't go away, clicking on it just makes it reappear and I have to either leave it on screen in the background or just close the folder.

It's getting really annoying, any idea what's causing it?

What are your file associations set to - try changing video files to Media Player and ISO files to, erm, notepad or something (or some other burning software).

I will try changing file association...funny that didn't even cross my mind, thanks....I even checked the registry, there are no Nero or Ahead entries.....

Will also try those cleaners, thanks

That usually happens after a borked Nero install, someone may have attempted to install Nero on your computer at one point and the installation procedure was corrupted.

The clean tools are the best bet use the v6 and v7 Clean tools as I find the v7 rarely works at all even when you have v7 of Nero installed.

Though if there is no presence of Nero found by the clean tool then it is a mystery to me, I'd try installing something like ImgBurn and let it take over any of the extensions for ISO's.

Yeah, tried all day, still nothing.

Happens even if I open a folder with video files in it, its extremely annoying, as again, I have to click about 100 times before it goes away, and even at that it usually comes back.

No entries in registry, cleaner didn't help, my iso's are associated elsewhere....no idea where to go from here!

Nero 7 has a useless feature called "Nero scout" or something, it keeps scanning folders for suitable files to add to a database afaik, that could be your problem, try downloading the Nero 7 package demo off www.nero.com and re-installing it and you may get the option to turn off nero scout, then uninstall the nero and run the clean up tools again ;)

    Hope this helps

    Nick

This is really ****ing doing my head in at this stage, everything I download from torrents is corrupted - I get a message saying cannot write to file, already in use by another program whenever anything reaches about 50% - and gigs upon gigs are gone to waste.

I tried installing nero 7, then uninstall it, no problem. But when I restart, the fcukin error message still comes up in any folder containing video or iso files....\

No registry entries, tried nero cleaner, tried reinstalling and uninstalling, but still no joy and I'm really beginning to loose my temper over this...

This might be a stupid suggestion but... have you done an up-to-date virus scan? Though i'm not aware of any exploit or virus that woudl cause this it might be worth a shot!

Yep, I have, doesn't show up anything either....came home today, and every single torrent had stopped with the error message of file in use.....
