Anyone know if there's anywhere near Trinity College where you can park for free/cheap between 9pm and the early hours of the morning on a Friday night?

Off the booze for the week and heading to a party near there tonight so thinking about taking the car and avoiding the taxi fare!

Most of the 'Pay and Display' areas end around 7pm but check the signs. You'll probably have to deal with the "lock hard" chaps.

Wherever you park make sure you do it legally, the clampers are not finished at 7pm

Anywhere around Merrion Square is free between 7am and 7pm Mon - Sat. No Lockhards either.

If it's the other side of Trinity, you could park on Pearse St., but do you really want to? I've seen loads of windows put in along there at weekends.

Yup - some of them work 24 hrs now.

Stephen's Green/Royal College of Surgeons do a cheapo overnight rate for a fiver I think, but as previous posers said, Merrion Sq. would be free to park on during the hours you mentioned.

    Nowhere I know of mate.

I suggest you shell out for parking or take the bus. It seems like every little nook or cranny you can shoehorn a car into has a box painted around it so you need to P&D. Especially in Dublin 1 or 2.

Besides, I guarantee you, if someone here posts that they know where there's a free spot, it won't be free for much longer. Someone will start using it regularly and then the Council will have a box around it!

Back when P&D was only starting, people used to come into town at 6:30 in the morning to park in the few remaining free spots!
