... well, unless things change drastically in modland!

Do you ever find youself dreaming up replies to posts and finding them really witty and cool even though they're clearly against the charter or would really offend people too much? Not obvious insults like "you're a loser" or whatever but more subtle put downs or responses?

I suspect there's a whole mirror universe of boards out there that only exists in people's heads and that will never come to be because the can't-be-doing-that filter breaks in!

(Oh zomg, so many evil, unsaid responses at me atm, right? )

I personally find the inability to curse a curtain on expressing my nature. But that mirror-boards would be a scary place. Imagine an internet lunatic asylum and youre close.

Actually, on the flip side, I can remember flaming a newbie user's thread a couple of years back on After Hours. Poor git probably didn't deserve it, but I did one of those line-by-line idea mincers. If I look back over my time at boards.ie, it's the only post I ever made that I think about and cringe. I'm also pretty sure I wouldn't be let away with it now!

I think what gets me most about this is that, when I was teenaged and angsty, the OP's original suggestion would have appealed to me in a big way. Yet still I slated him (as did everyone else)... and note, he didn't come back past that one post, bless him...

I remember when I first starting posting over a year ago, I wandered into a thread where dahamsta was selling a mobile phone. I just posted saying something along the lines of "Lord that phone is crap", he responded, naturally, saying "oh fcuk off", and I keep posting going on about how crap it was....I look back on it now going good god, what an earth was I thinking....he didn't report it, and after several complete and utterly thread destroying comments, no mod seemed to notice, nor was it reported....how did I escape that one??

yeah only yesterday i composed a killer post that would of ended debate and put the sham back where they belong. but i said i'd edit it slgihtly so as the mod dictatorship wouldnt have any issues. in the end i just didnt bother.

I regularily go to the trouble of typing out essay style rebuttal posts only to delete them as a simple 'you're a loser' would convey so much more!

Being a mod on another site I generally have to bite my tongue and not dish out some of my wittier and more telling put downs but every once In a while they sneek through and the thread generally ends straight away
