on lag time, that will depend on the ammount of ram what cpu and how good the disk is.

external HD's connect thru either USB (1.1 or 2.0) or firewire and as such will always have a 'lag', only noticable if the drive hasnt been accessed for a while and gone into standby. Transfer speeds afcourse will always be slower than internal drives.

They offer competitive pricing and their shipping prices are superb (i've had a pc case, flatbed scanner, a3 size printer and 19inch flatscreen monitor all shipped for under 20euro, long as placed as 1 order).

Their after sales customer service leaves a lot to be desired tho, no direct email, just forms on their website and a uk national phonenumber (useless in Ireland), the replies are very minimal, and my complaint never got resolved. (a laptop advertised with 1Gb ram, deliver with half that in a battered box and no solution offered  , ended up spending 60 euro elsewhere to upgrade)

So yes, go for the cheap priced deals, and hope it arrives in one piece, personally I'd recommend komplett.ie, fairly competitive and with the few items i did need to return it was solved instantly.;)

As for your original question, I'd recommend either seagate or western digital

    WARNING!

Be prepared to email them proof of your address as it appears to dislike Irish credit cards!
