Yes, it's there now. Some sites don't like hot-linking, DeviantArt is obviously one of them.

Nice shot, pity about the blown highlights in the sky though. Might have been a good shot to try some blending on.

I wasnt even gonna touch it in PS, was a point and shoot shot that I thought actually quite nice. Ill have a mess with it tonight see can I tidy it up a bit.

Unfortunately you can't recover information (detail) in a digital photo that just isn't there in the first place. That big expanse of white in the sky just above the chimney is just that, pure white (R=255,G=255,B=255), so no amount of twiddling in PS can make it anything else, apart from uniform grey maybe.

The technique I was referring to was one where you take two or more shots (on a tripod to ensure perfect registration) at different exposures, probably using exposure bracketing to make it easier. Select the two shots that have the best exposure for both foreground and sky and blend the two together. There are ways to do this 'manually' in PS, but I also came across a program the other day that claims to do this automatically. It's a bit like a subset of that technique whose name I can't quite remember right now that takes several shots all at different exposures and merges them together.

    See http://luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/digital-blending.shtml

I can see the picture now as well (so I take back that earlier one about it being plain). I like the way the water looks in this one - its reflection and shadows on it are pretty cool. Also the detail on the riverbank down towards the house - very neat. I would probably crop out some of the sky (to just above the chimney stack (?).

I did a cropped one, but to get the sky out I ended up with a very weird shaped photo, just didint suit it.

its a real pity about the sky! Would have like to have seen some blue and maybe fluffy clouds. Trouble with Ireland is the sky in the distance is almost alway that horrible light grey no matter what the weather is like. It's a catch 22, you'd probably lose out on the lovely reflections in the river if the sky was any different.

Every shot has it's compromises and i reckon it was worth blowing out the sky to get that lovely glass like quality and the reflections of the water.I like this shot.Well done.
