Does anybody have any friends who claim they can see dead people like the kid out of the 6th sense, a mate of mine says he has and that he can see them walking around doing everyday things and that they dont know they are dead and he says that they wear the most favourite clothing items etc as they walk around and they are not harmful but some are and they can also see him too and he sees them plain as day, it has his family in a mess he once put the brakes on rather sharpish on a busy road to let someone pass by, only thing was we didnt see anybody.

Oh ya he has also said he CAN see the Grim Reaper and that he does exist....He also claims that objects such as cars can be seen/heard by him.

Im not pulling the piss out of him but i dont know what to believe as he has freaked me out a few times saying that my grandad was present in my house one night making sure we were ok, now the funny thing is he didnt know my granddad was dead let alone get his name right.

we dont keep in touch anymore, he lives in a different country, what are you thoughts about this

    my thoughts, ok.

Well in answer to your question, yes i have a few friends who are "aware" of spirits. From my experience though it is not a case (for the majority) that they are unaware that they are dead. If your friend is alllowing it to interfer so much in his life that it affects his driving (he may have hurt someone) he should seek help of some sort.

With the grim reaper thing, I have to quote:
According to the CIA World Factbook, as of July, 2005, there were approximately 6,446,131,400 people on the planet, and the death rate was approximately 8.78 deaths per 1,000 people a year. According to our nifty desktop calculator, that works out to roughly 56,597,034 people leaving us every year. That's about a 155,000 a day.

That would make him a very very busy guy.

As for thr grim reaper, my opinion would be that the only people who come to get you when you die are your loved ones who have passed before you, or your spirit guide/s.

As for being busy ... sure if santa claus can do it ;)

Sure, people can see or sense dead people. (Kernel may disagree;) ) But in this case Id worry, because of the grim reaper reference. I think while your friend my have a gift, it would seem to be affecting him psychologically, if he is dragging up horror story references like that, which for me, would be coming purely from his subconcious.

Ah yeah but there're actually over 5,000 grim reapers at work in any given time and more are being employed every day. They wear the hoodies to give the impression that there's only 1 of them. The organisation they are working for is a mystery though...

Some people are able to see spirits and I feel your friend has this ability. Trouble is, if you have very strong Psi talents without knowing how to deal with them it creates psychological trauma. "The Grim Reaper" is a Jungian Archetype that symbolizes rebirth. I think your friend does'nt know how to interpret what he experiences and that's his main problem. He needs to talk to someone who can help him either control or develop this gift, but it's not good for him to let it free-flow like that. (I've communicated with Phil Lynott since he passed on by the way as I see he's your avatar, He was one of my closest friends. And he's still laughing!)

I remember my Father telling me that when he was in hospital many years ago after having a brain hemorrhage that nearly killed him, that when he was brought back to the hospital ward he remembers looking at the door of the ward and his Mother, Father and brother, who were dead, looking in the door at him as if they were waiting for him. He said he remembered it as clear as day, and in fairness to him he wouldn't wind me up about the likes of this.

my cousin claims to see dead people doin normal everyday things, when she was a kid she had to go to see specialists cause all she talked about from the time she could talk was her family dying in a fire, they reckon it was from her past life, now she always talks about seeing these dead people at bus stops. in shops, she hears them some times talkin to her asking her to tell people around her things, she did it once in a cafe, some guy was sitting next to her and some spirit was asking here to tell him things and she did and your man was in complete shock about how much she knew. docs thought she might have schitsofrenia (cant spell) !

Doctors work with what they can, to a point i cant blame them.

Epilepsy has in the past be misdiagnoised as possession and claireaudience as sktizopherinea (spelling?), unfortunately i'm sure we are very far way from conditions and gifts being labelled correctly.

I'm open to being told that everything i have experienced has been in my head, i just know that with the information available to me that its not.

Psychologists and Psychiatrists use "schizophrenia" as a blanket term, it used to mean " dual personality" but is now used mostly to describe personality disorders . Auditory and visual hallucinations are among the symptoms so that is the diagnosis inevitably made. This doesn't mean that Schizophrenia does'nt exist and these are all Psychic experiences. Nor does it prove that Psychic ability does'nt exist and psychics are all schizophrenic. As always it varies from person to person. There are other symptoms etc. which can help decide the difference between the two. The important thing is, ifa person is suffering, stressed, over- anxious, extremely nervous or the quality of life is affected badly by your experiences, then it is a good idea to seek professional help.

He used to tell me his best friend is a young deceased child who goes everywhere with him and he says that he gets bullied by other spirits, one night he went to some woods that had a ran down house in the middle and his other mates heard branches moving behind them and he had 2 people with him who were there to disprove him but they saw faces looking out from the house and the deceased child would not enter the house saying it had evil forces in it possibly 3 spirits, i wasnt there but his mates were freaked, still are.

Honestly I would'nt disrespect Phil's memory he was my great pal, last time I tried to contact him was about a year ago. I'd performed a Wedding in Belvedere House and we were all dancing. They played Philo singing "Whiskey in the Jar" and I could see him as clear as day giving me that cheeky grin. So I went outside and made a Psychic link to him, he was smiling and happy, still laughing making music and doing what he loved best. He gave me messages for his kids as I still see his wife Caroline sometime. Pm me if you like and Bless you for caring about one of the most special pals I've ever had.

    That made me laugh :D

While I believe in seeing spirits and have seen and heard them myself since I was a child, I think that something as extreme as described by the OP's friend enters the range of a mental disorder (seeing and hearing ghost cars?) Read through the list of symptoms on the link below and draw your own conclusions.

Does he know he is sorely missed?

Ghost cars and other objects (as opposed to people/animals) is very common, look at the flying dutchman? Anyway I think the friend of the Op was avoidiing a spirit who was walkinga cross the street.

Im just trying to find out if he knows he is sorely missed and does he know that he still has a huge following i think thats goes in paranormal.

6th- this is the part I was reacting to. Perhaps I misunderstood, if so my appologies Irishaircorps.

christ dont apologise, its a valid point either way. This guy sees ghost objects and people, my point was that this is not uncommon. My concern who be for how he is dealing with what he is experiencing. Most people with a bit of experience here seem to share that concern.
