The other thread is gone, the one wherei asked what do i do to stop eergency tax if i didnt have a p45 and it wasnt my first time working at the summer job (i was told to get a copy of tax credits certificate) which i did on monday and faxed it to payroll. But now today i got a payslip and pay for last week and i have been taxed! is this normal? will i get tax back and off emergency tax next week?

if its not your first time working then you should have a P45 from your previous employer

If you dont, your copy of your tax credits etc is not good, your employer might use it to calculate roughly what tax to pay but its a bit dodgy and not worth the hassel

you have to get on to your local revenue office and get them to issue a cert to you in place of the missing P45.www.revenue.ie

Hand this to your payroll and the emergancy tax will cease in a minimum 2 weeks at which point you will get the most of it back

If you have worked somewhere else during the current tax year then you need a P45. If you haven't worked since last year then you just need the tax cert.

When you get the tax cert a copy should also be sent to your employer automatically by the revenue, you shouldn't have to fax it. If you only handed it in on monday its very possible you just aren't set up correctly on the system. It usually takes a week or two to sort it out.
