Part-time IT/technical support work?

I'm off college for the summer and I was hoping to take advantage of this by getting a full time job in Technical Support with Irish Broadband until October when I'm back in college. I was dissapointed to learn recently that if I work for any more than 20 hours a week it will affect my grant for studying for the next year until I'm finished college. I've approached Irish Broadband and they put it to me that they are no longer hiring part-timers. I've been looking for similar jobs online on the likes of monster.ie only to find no part-time jobs in that category. Is anyone aware of any companies hiring people for part-time work in the IT sector, preferably technical support? I've completed one year of my PLC and I've a year to go the curriculum of which you can view here.

    Good thinking Batgirl.

I've sent my CV and cover letter to Stelfox already. I was told a few days ago that I can legally work and continue to claim my VTOS payment over the summer months, the 20 hour limit only applies during term. I initially thought this was great news as it would open some doors for me, but it is now apparent that many employers are not to keen on empolying people solely for the summer. We shall overcome. Thanks for the input.

I don't think Eircom use Stelfox anymore, too many disgruntled employees!

Try BT. I used to work there years ago and students covered the evening and weekend shifts and did daytime shifts in the holidays, so you could potentially work there on a permanent part-time basis.

I filled out an online application for BT a few days ago and I'm waiting to hear back. I've now broadened my search for work in customer services and then again to temping but even with these concessions everyone wants experience!

I wonder how it is people are supposed to get experience without any? Bit of a cache 22.

On Friday I'll be dropping my CVs into all the Internet Cafés I can find in town and failing that I'll just apply to Tesco!
