Using a debit card online

Possibly a stupid and/or wrong forum question ahead.. I've heard that debit cards be used online but not sure i've seen any sites accepting them. Does anyone know if any of the following sites can be used with one?

    Aer Lingus
    Ryan Air
    Ebay
    Amazon
    Play.com

How about booking hotels or hostels on-line or over the phone?

    Thanks

By Debit, do you mean Laser? Ryanair don't accept Laser anymore. Aer Lingus do. Most of the big international shopping/travel sites don't as Laser is an Irish debit card system as opposed to a global one

AIB have dropped the laser card as their debit card, and are instead using Maestro.

You could always use the 3V cards. They a prepaid credit card so pretty much a debit card

I think it still has Laser functionality - kind of co-branded..at least for now. AIB still own a share in Laser Card Services, so I doubt they'll dump the brand entirely.

Yeah, it's a Laser/Maestro card... handy mixture I guess because many Irish high street shops may not use maestro yet but use laser while online it's the complete opposite.
