For the amount of media work he does, he should be getting twice that.Rte pay a pittance compared to the uk.

I've never understood why RTE pay these guys so much, I know some of these programs bring in alot of advertising revenue, but I mean the late late would still get 1/2 a million (or whatever) viewers if some one else presented it.

If RTE said "sorry Pat, next year you're on 500K", what's he going to do?

No foreign market would be interested in him & TV3 or channel 6 wouldn't stretch near that far anyway.

I think the shock and awe is that he gets 900k for being a fuuucking god awful terrible presenter. He reads his questions right off his cue cards, doesn't let his guests answer, on the rare occasion they do he jumps in and finished there sentence.

900K to read cue cards....jesus I'd do it! :mad:

I don't think that RTE would pay those wages unless they thought that their presenters are open to being poached by others.

are you a relative or freind of Pat ?
he is plain boring , and i resent having to pay a tv license so as to help prop up a salary of 900k for the plank.

The money does seem crazy but if he is pulling in 1\2 million viewers someone must like him. There is no accounting for taste and I reckon his fans are not the type who would be on Boards at midnight so he wont receive many positive comments here

good point, people like my granny likes the plank, but she is a bit hard of hearing , and the eyes aren't the best ...

On topic : RTE presenters are paid far too much. As has been rightly pointed out, who's going to "poach" Pat Kenny in Ireland and also, the programme itself (i.e. the LLS) is bigger than the presenter.

Its about prestige Im afraid...paying your top "star" only €200K a year just isnt on....who exactly would want the man anyway?
Just give me one name who can match HALF that figure for his services?

Hes a complete waste and the only time I listen to his radio show is when its being presented by someone else!
