Sorry if this question has been posted before but I'm just getting into poker and wanted to practice against other players. Can anyone point me to some sites where I can play others without gambling real money?
    Thanks a lot

    hey,

most poker sites have 'play for fun' tables which you can practice on...but the fact that there is no money involved means you cant really take the play seriously

almost all online sites have a free play section, where u can play with pretend money.
Its good for getting the basics and seeing how the site works, how to bet/raise etc, but a lot of the play is unrealistic, as people "mess" and bet like a crazy mad fool, that they would never do with actual cash !!

Most sites have cash table with very small blind levels, 1 cent/2 cent kinda thing, and a lot of sign up bonuses where u get a free $20 etc, so u can play for real at the start and only risk a negligable amount of cash, if any.

pokerstars.com probably has one of the better poker clients for beginners.

the only reason id advise playing for play money is if you dont understand the rules.

But if you know the rules there is no point playing play money because people just push all-in constantly because they can just get more play money. The play is just unrealistic and will just get you into bad habbits.

As mentioned above just put some money into your account and play on the 1c/2c tables. The money does not really matter but the play is just more realistic.
