ever notice when ur rushing out the door and shutting off your computer (on xp) when u click turn off computer , u think that would be it right ?

only to come back to your house and discover "windows is waiting from a responce from you" or ending task......

i find myself now instead of rushing out the door but waiting there to make sure the computer actually shuts down lol

its one of the more annoying features in windows , if i click on turn off computer, think windows reguardless should end task/shut down the computer , hopfully they will have this in vista

I thought it normally closes down an application in a certain number of seconds, little progress bar thing. I find Trillian is the only program that is too stubborn to close down, everything else is fine. :)

Do you have 10 seconds? Hold the "off" button that long, and Windows either does a fast shutdown (with no questions asked), or it just turns off:D

This happens to me the odd time, maybe once every dozen shutdowns. Hangs at ending "Soundmax" or something similar...

Set the power options to shut down the system

I just have a shortcut on the desktop. When I am leaving work, double click and thats it. Only if I'm not downloading stuff though. I would usually leave it on in that case.
