ok, i was in Kilkenny castle over the week-end and among the photos i took i discovered this black area in one of the photographs

    weird.jpg

this was at the entrance to a corridor there was nobody else about i was the only one there, whats to the right of the picture is the doorway. I can't explain what the dark image is, i've examined the shot immediately before it and the one after and theres no sign of the dark thing!!!
and no it isn't my finger or anything like that - the lens housing is way too long for anything to obscure the view.
    It's just weird

I take it the photo was taken with flash? If so, something I do quite often with my D70s, especially when I'm holding the camera in portrait mode is that I unintentionally obscure a fair part of the pop-up flash with my left hand that I'm gripping the lens with.

Maybe the angle of coverage of your flash is wide enough that it may hit the lens hood or top of the lens barrel.

    Definitely the lens hood..

now gimme back my ear :)

Ok so I hang out on the Paranormal Forum ALOT! However I get sick of seeing photos of whisps of smoke and stuff the originates off the image. Now when a blur, shadow etc shows up and its completely inside the image then you can start to rule out things.

I have a shot on the paranormal forum that i might go grab and pop on here. brb

to me that looks like dust that is swirling around because of the shape of the stairs.
you know ,like a mini tornado ,except caused by the drafts in the house.

    Brian.

Thats the funny thing, that place has fcuk all drafts. But I accept your opinion, I have the advantage of having spent a fair bit of time there so i dont expect everyone to understand the workings of it.

Also if it was a swirl of dust I would have seem it or felt the breeze myself?

it wouldn't have to be moving fast to exist ,so you might not feel it.
Looking at at ceiling ,it is domed shaped and there are lots of curves on starecases in the picture.

Maybe the negative had a mark on it ,maybe thats slight flaring on the lense.

It's probably just me ,but I don't think about that stuff at all.

    Brian.

Was taken digitally. I'm not pushing this as anything and not trying to turn it into a debate, I have the paranormal forum for that. Just sharing in the nature of the thread ;)
