Jumps in standard of play?

    Hey all,

Just wondering what your thoughts are about when and where obvious jumps in standard of play can be witnessed (and experienced) re online poker? What I mean is in what games and at what stakes do the players go from being poor, to ok, to good, to very good, and so on?

In my limited experience, there is little to no difference in standard of play on PokerStars with regard the $5 - $30 STTs. Similarly, my even more limited experience of 5000 cash game hands divided between Party and Betfair, there is little difference in standard of play between the $.10/$.25 and $.25/$.50 tables. Should I expect a huge jump in standard of play when I move to $.50/$1 and $1/$2? Do different sites differ in where the standard changes, both in STTs and cash games? Your thoughts... :)

I mostly play STTs on party. Lately it's primarily been at 11 and 22. I reckon there's a noticable gap between the 6 and the 22's - That said you still have a rash of rubbish players at 22. (i include myself in that recently - if anyone wants free chips find whatever table i'm at) I've played a few $55's recently - not enough to give a definitive overall view, but they do seem a hell of a lot tighter and seem to have a higher standard of play.

My BB/100 at 0.50/1 is higher than my BB/100 at 1/2(this is very high). This is smaller at 2/4 and just in the green at 3/6. It's in the red at 5/10. I think I play the same way at each level.

As you go up levels, there are equal amounts of bad players, but there are more better players at the higher levels (in my experience anyway).

a number of the players i play with a medium/high stt levels, i cant see them making a profit at any level.
The difference is, as pointed out, there are also more better players at the higher levels.

Charli041 who weve posted about b4 as the worst player on crypto, has been known to play Stg£200 6 handed STTs.

However, at this level, usually 3 of the 6 in the field are pros or profitable amateurs.

Strangely, i played 2 6pacs earlier today, and ran a sharkscope on the field, and the finishing order 1-6 was exactly in the order of worst player 6th, 2nd worst 5th etc, up to the best player winning. (4 out of the 6 in each tourney were losing players, which is not unusual).
(be great if poker always ran to form like that)

I find a fair difference between £1/2 and £2/5 cash games on betfair. Theres a lot of good players at £2/5, and some clowns.

I also find the play is tighter in tourneys as u go up, and far more aggressive in cash games as u go up.

High stake cash games, u are put more to the test, people will fold, low stakes in limp, limp, call, call kinda stuff. You need to adapt your game for each in my opinion.
Because of the aggression in high stakes cash, and the fact that u will be put to the test a lot, u need to ensure u are bankrolled for this, and not playing scared, as u will be destroyed.

Up to $1-$2NL the standard is pretty much the same a bit tighter but always the ol Raising machine who cant walk away with his $1k profit and gives it all back.

But i imagine there is a noticeable difference at $2-$4??????
