I got my computer ages ago off a friend and it didn't have speaker ports in it nor does the head phone at the front work. How can I get the port at the front to work and can I buy a speaker port for the back of the computer:confused:

    errr, I can't tell if it's a troll or not !

A card inside the computer which allows the computer to produce sounds through internal or external speakers.

Its a card that sits inside the computer to let the computer play sound to you and record sound in, and if you're missin the speaker port, you're probably missing the sound card.

If you are competent to open up the PC, you can pick a sound card up for around the twenty euro mark, otherwise, you can get one to plug into the USB port, but you're looking in the 50 quid region for that.

^^Soundcard above. Plug your headphones into the green one (if you have a soundcard at all)

You don't get speakers for a USB port. You get a USB soundcard and plug whatever speakers into that. If you want to go the USB route, this piece of kit from peats will do the job. 60 quid though.

Also, Windows 98 isn't your computer Make & Model. That's your operating system. You computer make and model would be (for example) Dell Optiplex GX230.
