    Hi,

I have a mac formatted external HD, and a Windows2000 laptop. How do I get the files from the drive into windows?

It was originally a PC drive, but someone conencted it to a mac laptop and the rest is history. I know the files are on there but I just can't get at them......

Buggerit. Installed Macdrive, but it can't see the drive at all.

So either the thing has been wiped or theres another problem.

Anybody got any idea whether / how I can retrieve this data?

don't worry, it's not wiped... (unless you clicked 'format')

have you got any disc mounting programs installed? like alcohol for example?

Nope, I'm on a work PC, so theres nothing of that sort.

I'm trying this at the moment; http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk

I have a sneaky feeling that this isn't actualy about the Mac at all, but maybe the disk was damaged in transit.

As long as I don't allow windows to format the thing I should be ok, right? I mean in terms of trying to recover the data.

perhaps you'd have a better response with the tech-heads over at "Computer / Technology", good luck with it..
