went shooting yesterday and i was more intrigued by this leaf than the surroundings in Slane. Comments and critique welcome.

thats cool ,the leaf is like a signature .

It looks like very shallow water ,nice effect in the water movement ,I wasn't sure at first what it was because i had to scroll the image.

Thanks guys, i have a similar shot taken in sligo on my site. I really love the texture and colours myself. Just after buying a house so ya never know, it might make it up on one of the walls :)

very nice Alison - I really like the sureal coloring - I do like the extreme composition but still wonder if the leaf is a touch too close to the border of the shot? Maybe even if it was an 1/2 inch up n to the left?

Thats pretty cool - the water looks kind of like a shiny rock face (if it is water - or if not vice versa), great textures in that. Love the colours and composition as well.

Nice colour, I really like it. I agree with eas, the leaf it's too close to the border. Would be nicer a little bit more to the left/up.

Thanks guys, just to the right of the leaf there was a little waterfall, it was literally right beside it so unfortunately that was the tightest i could crop. As for the litle waterfall, it would have been a nice idea to leave it in but it really ruined the shot! Thanks for the feedback.

Edited another shot to include part of the waterfall. ;) Thanks again for feedback. Would anyone take a different approach?

Ooh, now this one I like, the last one you just couldn't quite see the water as much as I'd like but this has got it. Mhm.

I think that new one is stronger composition wise.

Thanks a mil. Hmm, my brother still reckons its a tree.
Now that i compare the two i think the second is miles ahead of the first.
Definitely pays off to just keep editing and trying different things out!

second one is much stronger. I spent far too long trying to figure out that it was water in the first one. Second one says it all in a glance. Very nice. Well worth framing.

I prefer the second one as well. I agree about the placement of the leaf in the frame of the first shot, pity cos it is a lovely image other than that. The second one though is just that bit different. I love the contrast of the light on the water and the way the division has such a lovely shape to it, almost flowing like the water itself. The leaf looks so lonesome and small in this second shot, but looks like it is meant to be there for some reason. In the first shot it looks like an accident, something that floated in before you pressed the shutter! Thumbs up for #2.
