Where can I find a heirarchical list of types of Irish horse races (in order of importance)

Im ok with the British races because of the way they are graded etc, but sometimes find it difficult to work out how 'important' certain Irish races are.

    Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing you are more looking at Handicaps because we have the same grades for pattern races as they do in the UK (listed, G3, G2, G1 etc.)

For handicaps the classes are actually similar to the UK, although instead of calling them class 1-7 we take the less clear path and include the actual band in the race title.

For instance in tonights Sligo card the first race is titled "Ladies Day At Sligo Handicap (40-60)", the 40-60 is basically saying it's for horses rated between 40 and 60 which is pretty low grade stuff, it would be similar to a Class 6 handicap in the UK.

This PDF details what the main Group, Listed and Premier Handicaps are in Ireland, there is a chart in it that lists the prize money for each which is probably the best way of determining their importance.
