Do you know those scammy things you get in the post with magazines n' stuff - it's like "scratch this to win 1million euro" and you ALWAYS win?

Anyways.....has anyone ever actually called the number after scratching the ticket and winning?

I'm pretty tempted cos I'm broke at the mo' and I got one in the door this mornin' and the minimum prize is 150yoyos........

Yes but it will be a voucher for an overpriced travel agents if you spend more than €2000 or something daft like that. They are all scams.

Remember someone a few years ago phoning one of these, my mother in law I think it was. She was kept on the phone for ages - 10 or 15 minutes & it was a premium no. Can't remember what she got, but something crap anyway, or else she eventually hung up. Phone bill was huge because of it! Just a scam definitely!

If you're broke now you'll really be broke when you see your phone bill if you ring it

If you like useless holiday vouchers and key rings, give them a bell!

I've always been curious about the legality of these. Has anyone ever tried suing them for false pretenses or false advertising or something. I mean if they specifically say a prize of one hundred and fifty euro if you ring then don't they legally have to deliver on that promise.

Yeah you never actually win anything and the phone number is usually a 1500 number that steals you of about a fiver a minute!

It's usually phrased like "a prize with a minimum value of €150". However, this may not mean much to you when it's a holiday voucher where you get the second week of your holiday for free or something like that.

My mother won loads of these 'prizes' including holidays, cameras etc. Trouble was she wanted the million and didn't bother sending in the claim form on any of her wins, which is what I think the organisers are counting on.I didn't ask what her phone bill was:rolleyes:

It ain't €150 in vouchers - it did say "cash"........ the phonecall is €2.40 per minute and lasts no longer than 4 minutes......

So according to them I can get €150 cash in exchange for a €10 phonecall.

If any of you have sky digital, it's in the sky magazine that came around today.

C'mon like, they can't lie about something like that!!!!

Haha. Our neighbour (old woman, mid 70s) called over a few months ago at around 10 or 11 at night. Mum brought her in and, obviously distressed, asked for a glass of water and told Mum to sit down. Mum asked why, and Mrs __________ said that she had just won 150,000 euros on one of those things.
Took my mother a while to persuade her it was just a scam, she got pretty defensive. Poor woman:D Anyways yes theyre all scams. How do you think they make a profit from them otherwise?

Haha!! That's pretty funny! Poor auld wan!

I'll try it some day when I have ten euro to spare for the phonecall.

Actually there should be enough in me change jar......... shur I won't miss ten euros worth of 5cent coins
