Or Femcees? Who is into who? Recently I have been listening to a bit of Jean Graes stuff, and am very impressed, some nice raw vocals. Also, and I know she is somewhat old school, would be MC Lyte.

Any receommendations as to who to look out for? Keeping in mind people like Beyonce is not an MC, and never will be.

Hmm not too many come to mind to be honest.

Jean Grae is probably the best around. one of the best mcs, male or female out at the minute too.

Bahamadia is another to look out for, she's been around for a while.

Of course there's always L-boogie, miseducation is a classic.

Kim I never really liked, Foxy either. Remy Ma kinda intimidates me, a bit too masculine for my liking.

Dont know many myself but Lady Sovereign is quite good if ya like UK Garage and also Shawnna check out "Shake that ****" brillo tune.

    Lady Sovereign...... oh dear. :P

MC Lyte would probably be as far as I could stand a female MC. It's wierd, but I tend to find that a lot of them just do what the guys do, but inversely, if you know what I mean. Talking about shopping, cars and then how the men love them and they just mess them around for fun etc...

Kind of weird coming from a ladies perspective imo. Lauryn Hill is definately the top of the pile though, very talented lady.

Rah Digga deserves a mention too. Decent emcee.

I've never really liked any female emcees. Not because i generally don't like women on the mic, but because i had never heard any with anything good to offer. But, very recently i've been introduced to not only my favourite female emcee, but one of my favourite emcees full stop. Dessa. She has to be heard. Essential listening. She's amazing. www.myspace.com/dessadarling

Ah yes, I knew I was forgeting someone. Dessa is pretty damn good. False hopes is excellent, high quality as usual from the doomtree camp.

Very nice on her myspace. Trying to find a few more songs. Any other tracks I should look out for?

How has no one mentioned Lauryn Hill yet?

Lighters Up (Lil Kim) is classic.

Lil Kim,Foxy and Missy all basically suck.Plus they are beyond ugly. :D

Lauryn is the best, excellent performance on the Fugees second.Jean Grae,MC Lyte and Rah Digga are very good as well.

Anyon else hear an MC called Invincible? She was on that Platinum Pied Pipers album last year,a track called Detriot Winter.Very impressive lyrically.
