    anyone been to any of these less travelled destinations. particular good places to go, stay etc. any annoyances?....would like to go to some of them but want to see what is recommended. i don't trust lonely planet with its "everything is great" ethos and "isn't this church, town square lovely" crap.

    Well churches and town squares would be lovely if you are in to that kind of thing. Not big on churches but I'd take a nice town square any day. Specially the symetrical ones.....;)

    I suppose it depends on what you're into really...

    Romania is cool.

    Go to Ceausescu's Palace in Bucharest awesome. Plenty of good resorts by the Black Sea to relax at.

    Cheap as chips, just don't expect many people to speak English.

    PS: Drink Ursus, the local beer. Top notch gargle. :cool:
