Sky+ multiroom without phone link: possible / workaround?

I have Sky, and would like Sky+ multiroom, however Sky are insisting that both boxes have the phone link. I'm not keen on this for reason of the wires, one of which would have to stretch for 50 feet or so to where the box currently is. I told them that I've never had the phone link, but they are not backing down even in the face of a threat to cancel altogether.

I am now looking at the option of Chorus Digital and the Sky box for the FTA channnels. Before doing anything, does anyone know of a work around, preferably with Sky, where multiroom could be had without need for the phone links?
    Many Thanks.

Well there is no easy way around it. If you want Multiroom which allows 2nd card for €15 pm, then both boxes must be connected to same phoneline.

Otherwise, maybe you could pay full subscription costs on both boxes. I'm not even sure if Sky would be keen on that either?

You can have two full price subs (or more) and no phone line, but only if you buy & install yourself(or 3rd party installer, not Sky).

A discounted mulitroom / mirror sub MUST have phone line as this is how Sky verify the cards are in same house.

Why not 2nd FTA box on satellite. Need not be expensive Sky box.? Chorus Digital is inferior to Sky (Dons asbestos suit).

Many thanks for the replies. Funny, the comment: "Why not 2nd FTA box on satellite. Need not be expensive Sky box.?" is very interesting in that following postng I was sitting in the garden and this type of solution occurred to me. Any thoughts as to the model of FTA box to buy? I assume that it is then simply a matter for the engineer to instal a second LNB, and run a second cable to the FTA box. Presumably I'm along the right lines saying this? Again thanks for the guidance as it suggests I can keep Sky, get a FTA box with the BBC channels - our main viewing other that Sky Sports.
    Cheers!
