That camera is nothing special , even on price , and its madness to spend any money on a digital camera without a review as the quality varies so much, it is highly unlikely that this camera produces decent pictures or it wouldn't be on sale like that !!

you can get known quality brands like Canon , Fuji , Olympus etc. for the same money with the same specification .

    Look here ,

I just picked up a Canon A610 in Argos for €201.

This camera has excellent reviews and picture results also look to be brill.

This camera has been in aldi before and I have used a friends. It is really good, it has a friendly ui and a good batt life and lots of good features. If I was in the market for a new camera I would not hesitate to buy this because I have the model previous to it, the traveller dc6300(really a rebranded vivitar vivacam 6300) and it is very reliable and overall a good camera. As well as that the guarantee policy in aldi is second to none. If you have a problem and you have your receipt you will get your money back guaranteed. I once brought back a camera after 1 and a half years(it had a 3 year guarantee) and I got my money back straight away no problems.

If you are interested in a new camera this is a good deal!

hummm to be honest, ever camera aldi sells in cats, i wouldn't reccommend them at all, pixels number is a load of trollop, the ccd is what makes the image and vivtar aren't great in that area, they come up very bland and basically crap. your better off buying a lower res nikon/canon, 8.1 is over kill, unless ya want to print huge ie, bigger than a3, and due to the crap ccd you gonna get a crap image anyway

Absolutely. Megapixels are just marketing fodder for compact cameras, and are pointless. A 6MP image will permit a print of A4 size no problem, 8MP will not allow you to make a print 33% larger at the same resolution - to double the resolutioin of an image, you have to quadruple the MP count.

Also, with small compact less can certainly not be more. The more pixels you try to cram into a small space, the more problem you're going to have with noise.

Personally, if I was looking for something in this class, I'd go for a 5-6MP Canon like the A530, or A540 linked to in the Komplett site anyday. For the size of prints 99% of people are ever going to want from a compact camera, it's as much as they'll ever need.

... the ccd is what makes the image ...

The lens is just as important as the CCD. Cheaper cameras tend to have a poorer quality lens and so a poorer quality picture.

    Same goes for telescopes.

yes i agree and vivitar again aren't renown for their optics(unless they are just a rebranded other camera, i dunno) either way i's steer clear
