i had a spare sky digital dish in the shed and decided to fit it to the rear of the house as my current dish is on the chimney and i'm going to get that taken down once the new dish is set up .

i have it set up in the same direction as my other dish but i just get a signal of around 60% but no lock no mater how much i adjust the dish .

i would be greatfull for any advice .

    thank you .

    matt.

    byte

    Some more information needed.

What are you using to test the signal?

What grade of cabling are you using? Poor cabling will have a detrimental affect on signal.

Is there anything like bushes or trees in front of the new dish that may hinder signal?

the cable is sat cable i got from maplins ct 100 ( got it a few years ago to re-route the sat to the other side of front room and that works ok ) and some ct 100 f-conectors , i also picked up a sat finder in maplins .

i had short lived joy as i got around 60% signal , quality around 50 % , locked signal , net id ooo2 ( same as if digi box is hooked up to sat dish on the roof ) , transport 07d4 ( same as above ) .

that only lasted until i gave the bolts on the dish there final tighten as they where well niped up and i made sure the dish did not move.

now i can not get the sat finder above 7 and only managed to get a signal and no quality strenght , no lock etc....

now a few doors down they have a tree in the back garden could that be stopping the signal lock byte ?

i'm getting sky + / multi-room installed next week and from what i'v heard they will not get on the roof ( plus i want the sat dish off the roof anyway) , i also want to run the cables in through the attic and behind the walls hidden from view ( thats why i want to do that part myself ) .

i can't understand how i had it all sorted out and then it was gone like that , is the margin really as tight as that ? .

You need to tighten bolts slowly and alternately and have it stiff on final adjsutment or it moves off posiotiuun

More or less yes. If you were only getting 50% quality in the first place, it wasn't particularly well aligned to begin with.

Theres also a chance that you are, in fact, aligned to Astra 1 where most of the transponders are identical frequency/symbol rate/polarity to Astra 2, making you think you have signal and get no signal lock...

I think he was aligned to the correct sat otherwise the " net id ooo2/transport 07d4" wouldn't have shown up.
