Hard Drive Types

    Hi my current hard drive is an 80gig Maxtor 6Y080L0 (Y27ZLSTC)
    I think its an ATA hard drive, though im not sure

    Im running out of space so i want to get another harddrive but wish to keep this one (maybe use it as a slave)
    So i need to know what kind of hard drive i should get as there is many types out there
    Can anyone help me on this
    Would appreciate recommendations of good hds too

    Yep the drive you have in there is an ATA133 IDE hard drive. What operating system are you running btw as there are restrictions (I think with Windows 98) on what size of hard drive the OS will be able to handle? It probably wont be an issue though. Maybe if you provide the make and model of the computer, some of us will be able to tell you the system specs of it and if you have any other options apart from ATA.

    That's a fairly new mobo and looks like it'll take just about any size IDE disk. I'd recommend either of the Western Digital disks here. 250G is €85 and 320G is €105.

    Would these be good for speed?
    I play alot of games so i would appreciate the extra speed (BF2) is SATA the best way to go for this?
