Senna on pole at Mondello!

I see Ayrton's nephew, Bruno is on pole for the F3 race at Mondello today... Isn't this history repeating itself? Didn't his uncle win an FF race at Mondello back in the early '80's?

His team-mates are second & third, so Double R Racing seem to have a good set-up. I guess I'm willing the kid to do well. It'd be great to have that name back in F1 if he has the talent to do it justice.

He sure did. As far as I can recall, it was a round of the European FF2000 championship in 1982, I think it was, that he won here but, more importantly than that, his prize was the prestigious Leinster Trophy. I've seen footage of that race a few times over the years, mainly back during the '90's when RTE would sometimes show it during their live coverage of the Leinster Trophy meeting at the end of the year when the Formula Opel Euroseries used to come to visit for the meeting.

For some reason, though, lately I've been starting to feel really old. Seeing the likes of Bruno Senna, Nico Rosberg, Nelson Piquet Jr., Greg and Leo Mansell all racing now, guys who's father's and uncle's I used to watch racing when I was growing up, has really started to make me feel my age!

He won the 1st race, and finished 5th in race 2. Got loads of my stuff signed, and talkieed to him for a while about racing and the circuit. He is really nice.
