WSOP $198 rebuy tournament on Tribeca

    Blinds 20-40.
    Stacks are all around 2k.

    I get dealt 99.

    1 limper just before me.
I make it 200 to go in mid-late position.
Everyone folds to limper who calls.

    Flop 866r

    Limper checks
    I bet 350.
    Limper calls.

    Turn 8.
    Limper pushes for 1600.

    I ?

    Niall,

I think he called ur raise with 67/78 and got lucky, jj-AA would have reraised preflop...

u have to fold....too many hands ur behind...

I know there are some clowns in this game that qualify but chance of AK,AQ etc must be low if he kept calling and then reraise.

In a rebuy game, he could be doing this with a lot of different hands, I think you have to call, you've invested 550 in the pot, I think he has 1010 or JJ, but I dont think you can let this go. But his call on the flop either indicates a big hand, or he doesn't believe you and has you on AK etc, so maybe he's making a move with a Ace also, hoping you'll fold.

I'm guessing 1010 here and you called

This is during the rebuy period? Looks like a fold.

During rebuy. Call and rebuy when he shows the 6.

its a complete bluff.why would he jam 1600 there at you.he is trying to represent the 8 which i doubt he has.i would call expecting that your ahead.people who jam bets at you like that are usually at it...what did he have or do you know

The reason he might jam it in here is represented by the people saying "I might call" etc. He wants Niall to make a mistake and this seems an odd bet so maybe (since Niall has shown some traction with this hand) he might get an unbeliever.

    DeV.

I fold this generally. I think you're behind.

I think I call this and expect to see a lone ace a good portion of the time, a lower (now counterfeited) pair some of the time, and be beaten some of the time.

    Narrowing it down again hector.

I was about to hit fold when it twigged he couldn't really be ahead. His combination of the pre-flop call, post flop call, and turn all-in reeked of inconsistency...

I think you can rule out TT/JJ/QQ when he flat calls the 350 post-flop. Those hands will bet/check raise that flop 95% of the time.

When the 8 comes on the turn I think you can rule out 8x. It was the 4th hand of the tourny and I don't think anyone ever pushes for 1600 with the full house. Also, if he had AA/KK he's not liking that 8, so I'd be surprised if he pushed with either of those holdings.

With that info and the fact that he looked a bit desperate, I called and he had 77:)

After the call I felt a bit fishy...and Im sure a few players at the table avoided bluffing me for a while... :) but when I went through the hand in more detail, I don't think the villain is ever ahead of 99 here.. unless of course you have both been playng with each other for hours. Then what Devore said above might have some influence on the decision.
