    Rammstein? Never heard of them...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

    I prefer KMFDM.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

    Einstuerzende Neubauten ftw.

Although, I was joking about Rammstein. I like them every once in a while, they're a bit samey to listen to too often. Great videos though.

I also love what I have of EN, though that's only Silence is Sexy. I also like Rammstein, but do prefer those above two.

You need more. Go to their site and have a listen to a free best of compilation and see what their other stuff is like. Some of it is radically different to Silence is Sexy (although that album is one of my favourites).

I shall do so at soem point.

    Rammstein are far from samey.
Instead of liking them every once in a while you should take a full time interest and you'll find yourself eating your words.

Been loads of Rammstein threads, last one can be found here:

    Too right man!
Seeing Rammstein live is something everybody should do once before they die!
    Seriously.

Well, I wouldn't go *that* far but it is very impressive!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

    Very fan.

Must agree KMFDM are fabulous though, a far broader range of styles covered, but perhaps not with the same flair as Till n' crew.

Rammstein were a HUGE influence on my musical life since they released Sehnsucht, and then I bought mutter and was blown away by the emotional power in the music. And of course their live show is un matched by anything else, Reise reise was only ok in my eyes, and rosenrot was outstanding. I love this band.

Mutter is in my top 10 favourite albums ever. A Rammstein show, is most definately something I want to experience in the near future.

I have 'Mutter' and 'Reise Reise'

both good albums. dont have an idea of what is being said, but the sound of it is unreal and the way it makes me feel is pretty unreal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,858 ✭✭✭Undergod

It actually helped me quite a bit with my German. I got a better feel for the language and learned some conversational stuff. Such as how to scream '****!' auf Deutsch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 88 ✭✭markeymark

Brilliant band - I have the Mutter, Reise Reise and Live Aus Berlin albums. Favourite video has got to be Sonne, though Ich Will would get an honourable mention. Its a lifelong ambition to see them live has anyone here done so?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,073 ✭✭✭Nea

Yeah I saw them in Brixton last year.
    Absolutely amazing!!!
I was sorry that I didnt get tickets for the 3 nights they did.

As I dont think they will ever play here due to the pyrotechnic laws, I think the next time they tour I will try to get over to Germany to see them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,180 ✭✭✭shnaek

Went to see them at a festival in Australia. They cancelled due to the drummer having perforated ears and they were replaced by Ash. FFS.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

    Some trade-off man! :p

I think Rammstein are a great band, I think all of their albums are good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 815 ✭✭✭Moojuice

They are Ok. The are very formulaic though, after a few songs it all blends into one. I think their earlier stuff is better like Hiercht Mich (excuse the spelling) and the stuff they did for Lost Highway. They would be worth seeing live though.

If you speak German their gas!

    Zwitter......Haemaphroidite (sp?)

In the chorus he shouts "one for you"......"one for me"

    Fantastic!

Love them. Wonder if they'd ever play Dublin?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

Couldn't see it happenin but I went to Cardiff to see them last year.
There was feck all hassle and even if there had been, it would have been so worth it.

Anybody any idea where to buy like their life album in Cork? Could not be bothered buying online and I've checked HMV & Virgin and they only have the newest album... Any small shop i might be missing?

I reckon they'd fill the point.

I've been a huge fan of Rammstein for a while now...have all the albums and dvds. Saw them February 2005 in the Brixton Academy - they were out of this world!!! It was great getting two albums released so close together but it looks like we'll be waiting a long while before we hear from them again!!!

    Fav songs:
Herzeleid : Du riechst so Gut
    Sehnsucht : Tier
Live aus Berlin : Du Hast
    Mutter : Sonne
    Reise, Reise : Mein Teil
    Rosenrot : Te Quiero Puta

Not really the problem. Sure they'd fill the Point, but with the restrictions the locals would put in place regarding their somewhat "unorthodox" live show, it wouldn't really be worth it. Certainly wouldn't be a Rammstein show. Slash got fined for smoking onstage there, I can't really see them being allowed to play with flamethrowers.

Well the trick in that case is not to tell the locals what kind of act they are.Smoking is forbidden in public places nowadays, messing with flamethrowers the law is a bit hazy about..
Have they ever applied to play here?

There's no tobacco in a pyrotechnics show ;)

I've seen pyrotechnics in the point before, granted not on a Rammstein scale but bearing in mind that at least one of the band (and I'm guessing several of their crew) are qualified pyrotechnicians, I can't see there being that much of a problem.

I would have imagined a Rammstein gig would pretty much have to be outdoors.

Rammstein in Marley Park perhaps? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,451 ✭✭✭blastman

Have only really heard Reise, Reise properly, but I really like their sound. Their lyrics aren't exactly Shakespeare, though! :)

When was the Live Aus Berlin DVD filmed?

i love rammstein but i've nothing much to add to this chat so i'll just recommend another german band called megaherz. very rammstein-ish. their album "5" is an absolute gem!

By locals I meant MCD/Aiken, they'd never allow a show like Rammstein's. Also, John2: As fas as I know, they're all qualified, but still, Aiken letting Till fry his dummer onstage? Can't see it man.

MCD are a bunch of arrogant twats.

I'm sure they could make do without the pyrotechnics if they had to. It's supposed to be a concert, like, not a freakin' circus show. I used to listen to Sehnsucht when I was about 14. Not bad. It reminded me of violent computer games. Don't ask me why

Yeah but check out the video for Feur Frei...imagine what it would be like without the fireworks..might as well have an accoustic version!

I'm not a mad Rammstein fan. Sure, the first few songs on Rosenrot are good, but they're not a band I could listen to non-stop. Having said that, if they play in Ireland, I'll be the first to buy a ticket.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

If the show was organised it would get the go ahead.

I reckon the problem is a lack of demand.
