Them red spiders....

As soon as the weather gets good you seem em. All over the walls and any surfaces that seem to be in direct sunlight. They seem to be tiny little spiders doing nothing but walking around bumping into eachother.

And when you squish them (i don't) they smear red kinda blood. Actually thinking back to my childhood I think they were called bloodsuckers...

Anyone botanists/biologists/skillful-google-users know what they are or what their purpose is, other than walking around?

Yes this year they are all over my garden!!

You can hardly see them unless you look at the ground but when
you see them there are literally thousands of them!

I call them bloodsuckers because there all red and when you squish them
its read. Look at your footsole when your after walking around the garden
and theres loadsa of little red spots!

I had them but they seem to do no harm but its not nice when your
lying down and can see close up literally hundreds of little red
    blood sucking animals:D :o

Are there more of them this year than usual?

I saw loads of them over the last week and it immediately reminded me of seeing them when I was a kid - it's as if they haven't been around for the last decade, because I honestly don't remember seeing any of them since I was young.

    Probably just my imagination...

yea they're horrible!! When i was little i called them bloodsuckers even tho they dont suck blood. I used to squish them with my finger tho and pretend i was bleeding (yeuch)
it's weird tho how u can look at a wall/slate or something and not see them, yet when you keep looking for a bit or look closely, they're everywhere!!

I thought it was just my garden that was infested with them. I've even had them in my bathroom, somehow. Like steviec said, I remember them being really common when I was a kid but can't recall seeing any for years until this year. I tried Googling them myself last week but couldn't find anything, although I wasn't really sure what I was trying to search for.

Not as sad as someone who feels the need to point that out. Banned, go get a tattoo for that.

Lived in this house for nearly nine years and this is first time I've ever seen them. They're all over my wheelie bins and nowhere else. I hope they don't start heading for the house anytime soon or I'll burn the place down.:(

Clover mites.. meh. I still think of them as bloodsuckers. Brings back childhood memories of squishing them on the wall until my fingertips were completely red :D

Used to spend my summers with a little water pistol, squirting them with water. Its particulalry cool when you squirt the water into a little hole in the wall and hundreds of them come pouring out.

I miss being a young sonny jim. Not a care in the world, whatll i do today? Prob just go play outside them come home for a crisp sandwich before going for a kick around. Ah bliss, I wonder if that machine that made Tom Hanks BIG has a reverse function, theres a circus in town and they are bound to have it. I wish I was small. Although i dont want to be small, I want to be young. Better clarify that with the machine operator at the circus. Although if i was small i could be a jockey or somebody who climbs into tight area to get items that are stuck, like a cat or something. I dont like cats, wouldnt like to be one either, just wana be small, or no sorry I just wana be young. MMMM crisp sandwich,....i like stories.
