Mouse problem

Recently when I loaded up BF2 after a long hiatus and connected a server without trouble I found that my mouse and keyboard didn't seem to work in game. They work perfectly in the menu and when I'm loading up the map but when it gets into the game they stop working all of a sudden and I have to ctrl alt delete the game into oblivion. It doesn't freeze though. I can see the trees and other features moving in the background. I've trained reinstalling and repatching but to no avail. Happened to anyone else? Any help?

When you reinstall did you delete your old control.con from My Documents Bf2 ?

It may be corrupted or looking for a gamepad.

I doubt it but it's worth checking. How exactly would I check it? Forgive my ineptness.

    go to

    c:\Documents and Settings\YOU\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\00001

Delete the file called controls and restart the game. You will have to go to the controls section game and change one thing (ie prone to extra mouse button or somfin)to create a new one.

Had something like that happen to me months back, loaded up BF and none of the buttons worked, when I checked in the options everything was blank, reloaded and it was fine as if it chose to ignore my control settings - weird

Same thing happened to me, and a friend, and my cousin. All out of the blue, it worked perfectly the previous day. I fixed the problem with a new Graphics card(which I needed anyway), although when my friend re-installed the GFX card and the game, it was fine.
Now I'm in the process of trying to fix it for my cousin, re-installed the game, and updated the cards drivers. Thanks for the control settings file name. Hope it'll work. There are some things seriously wrong with this game...

Thanks for the tip KdjaC. That got me on to the right track. For what it's worth it should read:

    c:\Documents and Settings\YOU\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001
    not
    c:\Documents and Settings\YOU\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\00001

    It's working perfectly now.

    :)

If you don't want to alter the controls.con file then you can just go to Options -> Controls and set all
