ok Guys, Its make or break week for this venture.

First off, there has been a venue change, it will now take place in St Andrews College Booterstown Avenue, Blackrock Co Dublin (venue for King of the Mat and Irish BJJ open etc) Weigh ins 930 - 1030 11am start sharp.

Now whether this actually goes ahead or not depends on gyms and their teams. When I first mooted this idea, everyone thought it was a great idea etc etc.

Well so far we have 2 teams from Next Generation, 2 Teams from SBG Harolds Cross, 1 Team with Fantastic Hair and 1 Team from Coolmine Jiu Jitsu club. We are still short two teams plus there are some vacancies on above teams, please check other post below. Basically I need gyms to try and come together and form teams so we have 8 teams on the day. I really didnt think it would be this hard given the early response to the idea. So could you please this week make a big effort in your classes to drag, coerce, threaten, bribe etc your members to form a team or join one of the other teams who have vacancies. Its all for a good cause and a bit of craic while being competitive at the same time.

Team Trophy and medals plus cash for the winner, medals for second and third. So come on please try and support this event if you arent busy etc.

No responses as of yet from any of the northern clubs.

Anyway. hopefully this can happen, and we can all have a bit of fun and help out some less fortunate kids at the same time.

Thanks to all those who have formed teams so far.:)

    David Jones

Yep, you got it. Dart to booterstown, walk straight up to lights, cross road, straight up booterstown avenue. About 150 yards up the road on the right you will see a set of gates set back from the road. Head up the avenue. Sports hall is big grey building. Thanks for the support. If we get everyone there on time, I would definitely hope to be over well before 3.

A HUGE Thank You to all who came along and competed and supported this event. To Ruth and the lads from Galway and Limerick, to Luke and the Coolmine crew, JK and 2 teams from SBG, Colms Two King crew, my guys from Next Generation and the extra guys like John Collins, John Murphy and Mark Hamill,(who popped up on more than one team!) If I left anyone out I apologise and thanks to you. Thanks also to all those who purchased DVDs or who just made a donation.

    1st place SBG TEAM 1
2nd Place Next Generation TEAM 1
3rd Place TEAM "Made up on the Day" :D

You all raised 400euro for the gatoto primary school in Kenya and thanks to SBG's winning team for donating 150 euro of the prize money, you raised 575euro for Joe Cunnane and his family. I didnt want it to be to widely known, but Joe turned up today, with his two little girls and his son. Im sure he wanted to get out of the house, but more than that he is so passionate about this sport he still wanted to show his face after everything he has been through this week.

I think possibly a table quiz and a John Kavanagh Seminar to be announced will be a couple of future fundraisers for Joe. If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know. A playstation UFC / PRIDE competition was also suggested. :-)

Anyway, you have no idea what a huge difference you all made today, and I thank you sincerely for all your generosity, and I hope you all had as much fun as I did today.

Hopefully see you all at Ring of Truth on the 29th.

    Sniper.

Not to distract from the charity, but Dave did a lot for the sport with this new tournament format.

It was a previously untested formula (in Ireland at least) and was a very enjoyable day for all the competitors as far as I could tell.

Anyway with another one planned for the end of the year it should be a nice addition to MMA and it's support sports in Ireland.

    Well done Dave,

    Colm

Hats off to Dave. Enjoyed the comp (even though my participation was short and not especially sweet thanks to Arni ;) ) Good sporting atmosphere with nobody taking it too seriously but still a high standard.
And go Team "Made Up On The Day"! 3rd place champions of the world!

High five bro, we really deserved those medals
;) , what with all the submitting I did;)

Funniest moment : "Now we have Judo Dave versus.......regular dave"

Best fight: "Owen Dempsey vs. Owen Roddy" I don't think I have ever seen two people roll so fast for so long, it was awesome.

That sounds like a sweet deal but unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to make this. Too much real world stuff going on at the moment plus I'll be up in dublin the following week for ROT.
