Today, was running out of energy so i went to starbucks, picked up a coffee to go and then it all started. About 50m away from the shop, Coffee start spilling all over the sides, all over my hands and onto my jeans, glorious! the flimzy cup was filled up to the brim, to boiling to drink so there was no real way to solve it the problem in the middle of the shopping centre.

Just curious, am I the only one or this happen to other people?, hopefully there will be a solution to this one day like a carboard holder with a lip so the coffee dont make it to your hands and burn the hell outa them.

Exact same thing happened to me today. Putting the lid on puts pressure on the cup and forces the liquid up. Or. Something.

Some sort of hypodermic coffee dispenser will probably be very much the order of the day in the future.

    Disposable Hypodermic cups?,

    I wait for the day!

No, I make absolutely sure they put in gallons of milk so its ready to drink right away... a few sips before you get going and you can set the beverage level to "optimal".
Don't take any shít from these people.

Sounds more like you're afraid of making a fuss. ;)
Just tell them what you want... they won't shout at you or spit in your coffee.
Or at least hand them a piece of paper with the URL to this thread written on it if you can't handle the pressure of asking for what you want :D
Ah some day you'll have one too many scalding hot cups of coffee and pluck up the courage.

Got a "large" cappucino in Starbucks this morning. I know allowing for froth it's not going to be full to the top but there wasn't enough liquid left to please a thirsty wren. Distinctly unamused! So opposite problem I guess, there wasn't enough coffee to wet my mouth, let alone spill it all over myself;)

I've got a "large cappucino" for you right here and there is more then enough liquid left I can assure you.

    *pets crotch*

Anyway, in one of my old jobs the way I would get around this was to just not fill it up to the top. Quite simple really. However some people think your being just scabby as your not filling them up and they arnt getting their "monies worth". You can just never please customers.

Pfft, "Large" nowadays is still small in American terms Winters, its a "Grande" you really want.

    *pets crotch*

Exactly, I've been in the same position before. I was actually accused of not filling it up on purpose by a customer one day. I tried explaining that if I filled it anymore it would spill on the way back to her table but no, she wanted it up to the brim. Needless to say I felt no sympathy for her when she burned herself on the way.

I get coffe, black a lot. Only get hot chocolate in starbucks. The cardboard things they put around the coffee in nuig are dead handy, stopped me burning myself in the morning.

I had one of the cardboard things aswell, but didnt really sort out the problem. Disposable Hypodermic cups all the way! :p

I always thought those ridiculously long orders I've sen in American sitcoms were made up until I started going to Starbucks. How...ghey...

Sounds like you're talking to a replicator... one of us is watching waaay too much star trek. :D
I've often been tempted to walk into a coffee shop and say only "Coffee... Jamaican blend... double strong, double sweet." as our man Miles O'Brian would have it.
Though I'm reliably informed that you'd be looked at like you've got ten heads.

Cups normally have a cardboard sheet on the outside that prevents burning, also there's a pin hole in the lid which prevents the steam from building up, it's primarily there to prevent the steam issue while the person is drinking. I think that you were just being shakey.

I wasnt shaking the cup at all, it was because the coffee was about 2mm under the lip of the cup, so any movments at all caused a spill. The little cardboard thing went to hell farily quickly, there purpos is more to stop the heat of the cup burning you rather then the coffee its self.

Just don't go to starbucks. It sucks, it's the McDonalds of the coffee world. Don't go to McDonalds either, it's the starbucks of the burger world. I wouldnt be suprised if Satan himself had shares in each of them.

I've never drank a cup of Coffee in my life but if I did drink coffee it wouldn't be sourced from Starbucks.

Always go for the small cappucino, it's physically not feasible to make a real cappucino when there's too much coffee. All you get is milky coffee.
