Diversions Festival of India FESTIVAL OF INDIA
    SATURDAY 24TH JUNE 2006

The Festival of India will commence at 1200hrs on Saturday 24th June. The festival will be opened by the Lord Mayor of Dublin at 1240hrs. At 1300 the festival will move southwards down O’Connell Street and will stop at The Spire for 10 minutes.

It will then proceed to D’Olier Street, College Streeet, Nassau, Dawsons Street, and Molesworth Street where it will remain until approximately 1450.
It will then proceed to St Stephens Green Park where it will remain until 1900.

There is expected to be a number of floats and approximately 500 people attending the festival, and as a result of this, O’Connell Street southbound will be closed to traffic between the hours of 1200 and 1330 approximately. I don't remember this from before. I live in Temple Bar and didn't realise Dublin had ethnic events like this. I'm very impressed. :)

I think Victor should get his on socialite column in Sun, divining good parties from traffic delays.

Did this actually happen today? I know there was a gay pride festival went along part of the route, but I was dining on Dawson St (well, a restaurant on Dawson St) from 13:30 to after 15:00 & saw nothing. Nor did I see anything on Westmoreland St shortly afterwards.
