has anyone else got this problem with their optical mouse that it keeps pulling to the top or bottom of the screen.
dosen't happen the whole time maybe every 10 minutes or so but it is getting on my nerves when playing games, it looks like im having a fit LOL.

I have this problem with 2 mice so it isnt the one in question that is a fault, is there a solution to this or a known problem?

What surface are you using it on? Desk, mousemat? If mousemat, what material is it, is it glossy or matte?

What is the difference between optical and laser? hmmmmm
I have put it on a velvet mose and over a 2 hour period it did it once which I can live with now, thanks lads for the advice you've saved a mouse from hitting the wall.

one uses an LED (light emitting diode), the other uses a laser (light amplification by the stimulated emission of radiation)

I use my Logitech optical mouse on a very smooth surface - a crappy worn-down 10 year old desk :D - and never have that problem, even when I move the mouse very fast. Those typical rough plastic mouse mats you usually get with some sort of picture on them have been awful in my experience - optical mice are supposed to not be good on multi-coloured surfaces, and there's usually a transparent layer between the picture and the top surface of the pad, which also causes havoc for optical mice.

There's these small shiny (maybe aluminium, I forget) mouse pads in PC World that are allegedy made specially for optical mice - are these any good?

now that make sense maybe that was where my problem was.
