i came to the conclusion tonight that i am a complete xenophobe.
I have a great distaste for other cultures and i really want ot get over it.

it's not from my upbringing, because my father was a world traveller before i was born and was very welcoming towards every foreign person he ever met.

i have no idea where i got this from, but i don't like it and i want to get over it.

    travelling is not an option.

anyone got any ideas on how i can overcome this without travelling the world?

BTW, this is not really a personal issue. it's just something i want to get a general consencus on.

i also hate Irish people. i don't discriminate.

is it xenophobia if you hate all cultures (including your own)

would that not be some sort of social phobia? and not xenophobia (fear of those outside your own culture)

i'm using xenophobia in the way that i dislike opther cultures, not that i fear them.

maybe i'm just a social retard who doesn't really like anyone..

it's not so much fear as it is dislike.
i wouldn't go so far as saying hatred. just a general dislike of other cultures and ways of life (there is a subtle difference there).

    so its not a phobia...

your just really anti-social on a very large scale?

Or it could be something psychological, something down to your desire for communication and how culture tends to muddle it up and make it complicated and difficult.

    you could be an emo?

and according to a google anthrophobia is fear of flowers

first off, i am far from emo. unless emo is listening to 90's grunge and late 80's/ early 90's metal.

secondly, i'm far from anti-social. i have several groups of friends from all kinds of backgrounds.

i don't really know how to explain my dislike of other ways of life. i'll get back to this in the morning or tomorrow evening or something.

erll like you not meaning fear with xenophobia, i didnt mean anti social as in no friends, but in the grand scale that your pro-active in communial events which you have no direct control over.

    ok lets examine this.

    answer the following questions.

Do you take part in any community events in your local area?

    Do you practice your faith?

What historical events/national holidays do you remember yearly? (e.g christmas, VE day etc)

    Describe your christmas to me?

Do you ever talk to your friends about their culture/faith?

my impresson is that you might not hate all cultures, just the associated responsibilities associated with them (hence why you dislike even your own) but this is me being bored at 223am when i should be eating...

but answer the question let us into your mind.

    are you a scientologist?

No. But i got tested by one when i was 16, which has resulted in my extreme dislike of all scientologists, hence why i kick them when i see them.

    Just for fun!

Do you take part in any community events in your local area?

    No

    Do you practice your faith?

    No

What historical events/national holidays do you remember yearly? (e.g christmas, VE day etc)

    Christmas, Holloween

    Describe your christmas to me?

Me and my family, eating christmas dinner(drool), sharing presents and drinking...

Do you ever talk to your friends about their culture/faith?

Yes, because I find other people's points of view interesting, especially if they differ from my own, particularly if they centre around faith in a greater being.
