Annual leave on sick leave

In private sector employment, if an employee takes an extended period of sick leave what would the usual treatment of annual leave for this period be? Would an employee accrue annual leave for this period? Many thanks

Typically an employee won't accrue annual leave while on sick leave but someone working full-time would have to be off sick for a decent few weeks before it would start affecting leave entlements they would have to drop below the 1365 hours required for maximum statutory leave before this happened.
