this might not be the right place. someone please help though.

my toilet appears to be blocked. when i flush, the water kind of fills back up the bowl a bit. nothing unusual, but three or four days later - it's still doing this. i can't shove the brush under because it's a new toilet and it's a weird bastard of a narrrow one.

any tips? my parents will think i've been flushing kilos of coke down there if they get back and it's still wonky.

flush the toilet and plunge it with the plunger about three or four times whilst its still flushing...

I had a similar problem with mine, then I discovered All-Bran. Now, my toilet never gets blocked.

If a plunger doesn't work, and the problem is ongoing, call Dynorod - as it's obviously not just a temporary blockage. It could be a problem with the waste pipe outside - maybe a calcium build-up (caused by the hard Water we have in Ireland), making the diameter of the pipe smaller.

Is it worse when it rains?

If you have chimney sweeping brushes, try shove one of the rods down the toilet and try break it up!

If you don't have a plunger, use a mop.

There s a shop in blackrock shopping centre that sells stuff for the house and bits and bobs, it has a product in there that if you pour it down the toilet it will have the whole thing unblocked in about 5 minutes. Im not sure what its called but if you describe the above they ll know. It s in a plastic bottle with a sealable cap.

Ill get back to you if can remember the name

We have the same issue in our house. A plumber told us the original toilet was sized correctly for the plumbing. The new style toilets are smaller and conserve water. But they also cause problems through the plumbing because there isn't enough water and pressure to flush the pipes.
He suggested that once a week we pour a bucket of water down it just to keep things lubed through the system. It has helped a lot!
Also, if the paper is too fluffy it can clog pipes too. We switched brands. Not so gentle on the bum, but much more gentle on the pipes!

So try a big bucket of water. THEN try plunging as well. You're sure to see a difference. But PLEASE don't just ignore it or it'll get worse!

same kinda thing happened with mine, except it just kept getting worse, and then it got completely blocked, and the shower and sink and everything kept filling up.

I had to go into the back garden, and lift up the shore type-thing that carried away all the "waste", 'cos there was a junction in it where all bogroll and stuff had converged.

Short story long, I had to get a long, bendy stick(hur hur) and shove it into the hole (hur hur) to unblock it.

thanks for all the advice gang - the only trouble is that it's brand new, and i'm terribly worried about making the whole situation worse.

don't you hate when you get a big job done on your house, but there's some niggly little **** up?

cover all sink holoes and shower holes that are connected to the toilet pipe with something to make them nearly airtight and then flush the toilet.may take one or two attempts but it usually works

if it's a blockage in one toilet only, try a wire coat hanger. you won't feel great about it, but it'll probably break up the blockage.

if it's more than one then check through the system and see if you can find the point where it isn't blocked and work your way back up with rods.

any hire shop should be able to sort you out with some for much cheaper than dyno-rod and you won't have the embarrasment of some stranger poking at your turds (so to speak).

The stuff i was refuring to is called Santrax, it is a drain cleaner and will definately work. But be sure to wear some gloves when using it and to also pour the liquid carefully down the toilet.

Any good hardwear store should have it, but blackrock hardwear store in the centre definately has it.

    Id swear by it :)
