What Acoustic Bass?

    Hi,

I've been playing electric bass for a couple of years and am looking to pick up an acoustic/semi-acoustic bass. Problem is, there are very little to choose from in stores, so I am wondering can anyone recommend a decent, cheap bass either online or in store.

I have seen a couple of nice Ibanezes (is that the plural?) on thomann, but without actually being able to play it, I'm not risking a purchase.

    Cheers

Ok, I'm not getting much help on this...
I've had a quick look on Thomann.de and came up with a couple of choices

    Ibanez AEB8E BK - http://www.thomann.de/thoiw6_artikel-177086.html
    Ibanez AEB10E DVS - http://www.thomann.de/thoiw6_artikel-177087.html
    HÖFNER HAB 01E - http://www.thomann.de/thoiw6_hoefner_hab_01e_prodinfo.html

Has anybody any idea how these play? My main concern is the action and how they would hold up in a jam with some acoustic guitars

    Cheers

My guess is that everyone here plays electric and hasn't owned E/A basses, so they can't comment or recommend. :)

yeah it's looking that way alight!

Was talking to the acoustic guy in Music Maker. His opinion is that they are all ****e. Unless they are built like the acoustic basses (like the one Flea plays in Road Trippin') or are actually double basses, they wont stand a chance in an acoustic jam. His suggestion was just to use a small amp with a P-bass.

    How dissappointing :(
