    Hello

Resubscribed to sky about a week ago after having no subscription for about a year.

I have a problem with the sky plus though, hopefully its not too confusing....

Whenever I try to record a program while viewing it I cannot watch any other channels but the one which is being recorded,

    and then

If I am on a various channel and try to record a program on a certain channel I can watch any channel except for the one being recorded.

    COnfusing?
    Please help!!!!

Sounds weird: I presume you have 2 cables plugged into the box?

Sky+ needs two Satellite cables and a Quad or Dual LNB

right, is that why the message on the screen is 'no satelitte signal being received' on the channels i cant watch during recording?

we moved to this house and there was a normal sky box in it, does that mean something has to be replaced on the dish or new wires etc????

    any ideas and costs?

A new quad lnb and a second cable from dish to reciever is needed.
An independent dealer is probably your best bet.

As watty has correctly said, you need a Quad LNB on the dish (has 4 outputs) and 2 cables must be connected to the Sky+ box from the dish.

One feed for recording, the other feed for viewing other channels or recording another channel.

si this hard to do? sorry not very knowledgable regarding the mechanics of how to wire up satelittes, again what kind of cost?

    Not really

You have to get yourself a quad lnb and some good quality satellite cable Ct100 or better

1.) Install new cable from dish back to room where sky+ is installed.
2.) Replace lnb on front of dish with new one
3.) Put F connectors on both ends of the cable and plug into dish and reciever.

    Your done...

Watty can probally give you more advice on getting quad lnb etc.

    OK:

    1-Press 'Services' on your remote
    2-Then 4 for 'System Setup'
3- Then go to 6(I think) for Signal test

If there's only one signal than you've only one connection.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 487 ✭✭digiking

yeah, thats a decent price - if it includes installation

    it works out like this

    39 for lnb
    40 for install

    Sounds very reasonable to me.
Dish may need re-aligning, cables checked...any other number of minor issues may pop up.

yea ill have to check if its including installation then, the guy is installing an aerial on our log cabin on friday for 230 euro, is that a good price?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 487 ✭✭digiking

yeah, its reasonable enough - if he is putting in amplifier etc to get the best reception possible

Depends on how many aerials are needed, what channels you want, wether or not amp is reqd or not.

yea i know, aerial guy said it would be a maximum of 270, as he may need something else to get tv3, but 8 channels altogether

    Thats a fair price then
