Do we need to know both of these?

The haber process for the manufacture of ammonia
The contact process for the manufacture of sulfuric acid

or can we just learn one? cheers :D

I think it's just one you need to know.
but I haven't come to that chapter yet, so I'll wait and freak out when I do :D

i'm not sure, we only did the haber process but it doesn't say anything bout only doing one. Sure the SO3 thing isnt that hard, just remember vanadium pentoxide is the catalyst and the conditions are high pressure and low temp. tho in reality its only atm pressure and 450 C :) then mix it with water to get H2SO4

Guys can I get away with not learining the gas chapter? I HATE IT!

    Yeah, sure.

Edit: Not being sarky, I'd say gases can be skipped.

I'd say gases will come up,
as for the two, in my (under revised)mind, they both need the same conditions. (as in high pressure, low temp)

the catalysts :< dammit i forget... *runs to book*

i personally goin over everything, but i do belive ya can get away with out two things, if your stuck for time...

what chem exps do ya think will show their worrysome heads?

    ethanoic acid+tests
    neutrislation in a cup...
    iodine vs sodium thios sulfatE?
    water crystalisation

If ethanoic acid and all its crappy tests show their head I'm going to scream.

im nearly 100% that you need to know both the contact and the haber process.

I don't think tomorrow's exam will be in any way predictable. Physics was as not predicted, same with French, Geog, Irish (my subjects). Hope to God that's true
and eth. acid doesn't turn up.

    :o well i wasnt predicing.

really , its worth knowing, all of it... the whole syllbus! lol
    but last minute.. cant hurt.

look back, you see that it hastn come up yet.. ethanal, soap, and the almunds.. have. its my bet.... :o

We didn't even do Industrial chemistry or electrochemistry. There's plenty of choice on the paper so maybe at this stage (like 3 hours before the exam!) you should concentrate on revising stuff you know and Experiments.

you have to love tara lyons. Scariest woman alive, but the best ****ing teacher available!
pity she didnt give any predictions though!
im looking over the option for the first time now!
i still have to do water, gas laws and rates of rxn. and i need to look over organic.
better get off the net i guess......

She predicted that water of crystallisation titration, to my delight.
