Greatest poker feeling

I've just spent the last 3 and half hours playing a guy in a cash game who cleaned me out of three buyins with amazing luck but I rode it out to come back and break him. It was the most incredible feeling ever as the cards as well as the other players actually became meaningless and it was simply the battle of myself and the villian.

The whole table ended up with just me and the villian trying to break each other. It seemed the other players were afraid to raise because if one of us called then it was most likey the other would follow suit.Bluff reraises seemed to be the most common form of betting. It became playing a game within a game as both of us swang to and fro. It seemed an insult to us if others entered a pot with myself and the villian and they simply could not put either of us on hands.

If I sat out then he sat out and vice versa.

I'm playing poker for about 4 years now but never before have i experienced such a fierce rivalry between myself and another player. It feels like the greatest achievement ever grinding it out to end up the victor. The money didnt even seem important as we both seemed determined to either bust each other or lose everything.

Of course this is a ridiculous way of playing but it really was the craziest duel i've ever been involved in.The only calls made in the betting between us seemed to come preflop or else calling an all in. It became a battle tosee who would concede first and leave the table or go bust and thankfully it wasnt me.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing in a full/6 handed game?
And what is the greatest thrill that you get from playing pokjer apart from the financial side?

Winning-the finance counts for littel put next to the competitive spirit of the game. I also love trying new things in the game, trying to squirm my way out of awkward holes-this is starting to sound wierd, I'll shut up

Sounded like a good session. Have had my fair share of villians, and have extracted revenge, but nothing like the session the 2 of you had last night!

For me the thrill of Poker is in winning and learning. Knowing that each day after 2/3 years I'm still learning. Knowing from reading on here, that it is indeed beatable. It's a challenge and a half, rewarding and crippling, love and hate all rolled into one.
