Can't access mbna net access

Installed a new HDD during the week on my laptop, so had to reinstall the OS. I've had no problems except I cannot access MBNA's net access for some bizarre reason.

The lappie is running XP Pro SP2 (fully updated), with AVG Free and Zone Alarm Free (both updated). I can open the welcome page http://www.mbna.com/europe/index.html but when I click on the Log On link (http://www.mbna.com/europe/direct/hm_log_on_r.html) a new window opens (as its supposed to do) but the connection times out. I've tried with Firefox and IE, and I get the same result.

Thing is, I have a desktop with Windows ME installed on it but the same anti-virus/firewall/browser combo, and I can access the page ok. As far as I know there's nothing I've done to block the specific site, I've tried disabling Zone Alarm but that's not helped.

    I'm flumoxed, any ideas?

    Oh, meant to add...

For some reason I thought the problem might be Java-related so attempted to download the latest Java from Sun, but got the same result (i.e. a timeout) when I clicked on the download link. Had to use my desktop to download it then transfer it across.

    That's weird...

Just disconnected from my ethernet and connected the laptop by wireless link (the desktop is on a wireless link permanently) and now I can access the site again...checked my settings and realised that I had DHCP enabled (I thought I'd assigned static IPs).

I've just enabled DHCP on the LAN and can access the site through that as well.

That make any sense to anybody?
