    Is that for real
If so that is freaky and means that the films like I Robot are closer then we think.
I think it is a bad idea giving machines uncontrolled boundaries, what start of as a simple fps learning program can soon scale into something a lot more serious if in the wrong hands. Look at the H bomb the original principle behind that was to create a form of energy in the end it was used to destory thousands of lifes.

I know Im going over the top a bit here but it can only lead to bad things IMO I dont think we are ready for this technology just yet.

considering where it is happening I would have expected them to use Unreal Tournament....

    it is pretty weird though.

weird it is and I wonder why they did pick Quake 3 out of all the games.

thats deadly and here i am playing games like a fool.. i gotta get a brain.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 282 ✭✭matu

Hahaha yeah I wonder if they will include that as an addon for the Playstation 4 and will it be compatible with the multi tap to allow upto 7 brains to compete agaisnt yourself.
be like having your friends around without all the shouting and jesting.

Ok, no one seemed to pick up on it so... It's not real. Check the very bottom of the page for links to the actual press release, which had said brain flying a simplified flight simulator. Which is still kinda freaky, but not quite as bad as the FPS one. :)

I think you may be over stepping the mark a bit in thinking that the next step for the dog brain mush is world domination. I did something very similar for my final year project except I used simulated neurons instead of dog brain neurons (slight easier to source and not as smelly). The cool thing about this is the use of real brain matter. The actual "learning" bit is relatively old at this stage. I'd imagine this achieves more from a medical point of view than from an AI one. They are just using flight simulators as press bait. Anyways, I for one welcome our new dog brain mush overlords.
