People seem to think that slogan is a license to spam internet forums.

I'll leave the thread open as long as it remains civil.

Many people dislike the show and I don't want any Blast fans getting needlessly aggressive if they should choose to criticise the programme.

Yes, I agree.. I have stopped watching TV (except Podge and Rodge when it was on) I am an up and coming radio DJ and Ray Foley and JP are such a great inspiration. The podblast is great too (actually its better, i dont really like the music so much).
Here in America radio can be so great (on the whole its ****e because all the stations do one type of music) but some can be great. There is a station here in chicago, its largely talk.. but theres two hosts (at least) for every show.. its really, really funny!

Listened to them last week they are passable. Can't see what all the fuss is about! "Oh lets do an alternative to the Ann Marie Kelly Wedding Album we will call it the Divorce Album" Now people if you think that this is legendary broadcasting they you haven't a clue what good radio is.

In the history of Human experience, this show is the worst thing that has ever been imagined or implemented. Absolutely awful.

Some people might think this description is a bit extreme, but they are people who have never heard the show. Fear that the show might be on at some stage has made me turn off the radio quite early in the day. And blow up my house. Just to make sure.

i enjoy a bit of comedy but i tuned in to this show on the recommendation of people spamming this forum, and didn't think much of it. maybe it's because i download a lot of geniunely funny podcasts, or maybe it's just because the blast just isn't very good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

Well from what I've heard it's a fairly generic type of programme. Really not the type of thing that I'd like, but it seems well enough put together so if you like this type of thing, it's probably a good example of it.

I have tuned in a few times. It's a good show for the people it's aimed at, obviously the under-18 schoolgoers. I know back in my teen days (long time ago) I'd have listened to this type of show but would quickly have grown out of it. Treats it's listeners like Den viewers really. I'm sure there aren't that many over that age group honestly listening to it.

These two guys only have one function. To seperate Pet Sounds from Small Hours. The humour is just the same inane codswallop you would hear on any other commercial station, as is the music. Almost, but not quite, l.c.d. entertainment.

    Interesting situation.

Ray Foley isn't just a presenter on the radio, he's also a member of boards.ie and as such I'd like to ask people to cut out the personal abuse.

Lord help us if Pat Kenny ever signs up an account here.

The show sucks. Don't tell your friends. Tell everyone.

I didn't know the little git who'd started that spam fest here in March had an account here.

Found out today though, and banned him.

(FFS, what if he becomes successful one day. Then there'd be both plenty of criticism [like the rather good post he initially threw a tantrum over] and childish insults [though it would be good if people could raise their posts above 'Ray Foley is a gob****e' - I'm not denying he's a gob****e, nor that it's valid criticism in a way, since what comes out of your gob is what a radio presenter's craft is all about - but still, a bit more thought into the details of his gob****ery would make for more entertaining posts folks]).

Whoever Ray Foley is, he was really tempting fate by encouraging spam with that phrase "dont tell a friend tell everyone". I wonder if he hates spam mail too.

Ray Foley: A poor mans Ray Darcy

Ray Darcy is pants anyway, so that's not saying much about Ray Foley...

Haven't heard said show so I shall refrain from commenting on it, though the spam thing doesn't entice me, I have to say.

One must have respect for the radio listening public though. Ray Darcy has something like 220,000 listeners daily, one of the most popular radio shows in the country. Does anybody know Foley's listenership, or is it even published?

Well Ray D'arcy has a genuinely nice personality. And he comes across well when ever I've had dealings with him... Ray Foley on the other hand... well... lets not get into that.

A suggestion lock and stickie this thread with a note saying that the show exists and no need to tell the people here.

A great idea. I'll give it a go.

The Blast is a show... on at some time on Today FM for the time being... No need to tell your friends or anybody and I hereby release you from your responsibility.

Further mentions of the show shall result in bannage and possibly hemorrhoids.

I was in my car tonight when Ray Foley's show started just after 10.00pm. His opening salvo was that people on Boards.ie are a crowd of to**ers. He then went on to have a go at the mods, and finished with a dig at Spell Czechs.

    Who or what upset him?

I believe he is a member here. Does anybody know his user name?

haha.. very interesting... He really is an incredibly petty man...

But basically boards.ie was fed up of being used as an advertising platform for his show.

    Thread closed.

Who the hell is Ray Foley, and why would anyone care what a nobody has to say about boards.ie?

He used to be a member, but I banned him.

Some people just don't know how to behave in social situations and have to be shown the door.
