IE has stopped working for me. i am now using mozilla firefox but some programs require to be run in IE. the error message appears everytime i try to look up a page."invalid syntax error" this page cannot be displayed. i am on a dial up connection aswell. can anyone help me?

Have you tried Reinstalling IE?

GO the MS website and download IE6 and install it. Should fix all of your problems also patch once done.

Try that and if it doesnt work report back

Probably a Hijacked Browser. Trying using adware/spyware removers.
