Can't remember if they were mentioned here but Dunnes Stores in Kilnamanagh (Dublin 24) have Divx (MP4) players for €38.

Is this the Amstrad player (about 1/2 the size of "normal" DVD players)?

These are a brilliant little player for the money! I bought 2 from the Sarsfield Dunnes in Limerick last month! :D

Excellent, are they in all Dunnes or just some stores?

I think they are in Waterford too. I saw a newly arrived small DVD player but didn't take much notice of the details.

I bought one in blackpool a few weeks ago and they also had them in bishopstown court at the time - well worth the € 40 - I did invest in a new AV cable for it - the supplied one had poor quality fittings and the slightest knock dislodged it from the telly sockets.

I had a good look at the box and could see nothing to make me believe it would. The reference number was ADVDRW2 but when I google that with Aurex I can't find anything and the aurex website is down for maintenance so unless you want to buy one and test it and let the rest of us know....

Not always true. I bought an Avious player from PowerCity, didn't mention MPEG4 or DiVX on box but plays DiVX very well indeed.
Prob need to open a box and look at the included manual to confirm if it supports MPEG4.

Does anyone know if Cornelscourt have these? What is the model name and number? Or is it the only Amstrad one they have? :)

called into dunnes in the pavillions, in swords to see if they had any of these. None available, but they had a bunch of 'Plustron DVD988' for 39.99

No special features on the box (didn't say could read Divx, or DVD-r/+r).

Wondering if anyone has any experience of these ones?

AFAIK, the Plustron ones are *not* DivX players...

For anyone in Cork still looking for one of these they had the Amstrad players in Dunnes Merchants Quay (upstairs) for €38. Got one. Played my divx disks perfectly. Very happy so far, nice small player.
